Speech & Language Therapy

Speech & Language Therapy

At Therapy Connections, speech-language pathologists strive to help children communicate so they can develop happy and healthy relationships with friends, family and caregivers.

Effective communication requires a combination of skills in the areas of speech, language and hearing. Speech-language pathologists also can work with families to improve a child's feeding skills. We provide evaluations to determine the child's area(s) of need and then customize and implement a treatment plan to improve their communication skills.

Therapy Connections provides a wide range of therapeutic services using evidence based techniques, and an interdisciplinary approach, allow children with disabilities to achieve their highest potential.

Services are provided to children of all ages and various diagnoses that include Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, Dyspraxia, Down syndrome and Language and Development Delays

Late Talkers

When children are late to talk it becomes a worry for parents. Families often ask when it is okay to wait a little longer and when they should begin talking to a professional.  We can help you navigate this path and give you clues to look for as your assess your child's progress.

Feeding Therapy

Feeding therapy involves identifying safe swallowing as well as other factors involved in “picky eating”. Reasons for feeding difficulty include: sensory sensitivities, oral motor difficulties, feeding skills, and/or behavior issues. We utilize several techniques to encourage trying new foods and integrating your child into a varied and functional diet.

Phonological Awareness

Phonological awareness is the ability to recognize and work with sounds in spoken language. It is the foundation for learning to read. Some children pick it up naturally but others need to be taught in a structured and supportive environment.

Social Skills

Social Skills are critical when communicating and interacting with others. Social skills involve one’s ability to communicate with positive outcomes. These rarely taught necessary skills are crucial for lifelong relationships and are the foundations for effective communication over a lifetime.
